The Massey Ferguson LB 2224 (successor to MF 2260) is a low-profile large square baler producing 1200 × 700 mm (47" × 28") bales up to 3.2 metres long.
The wide 2×4 format is ideal when storage height is limited, offering a lower profile that maximizes vertical storage capacity. Its wider, flatter dimensions make individual flakes easier to handle manually compared to taller bale formats. This configuration is particularly advantageous for operations with restricted ceiling heights in barns or storage facilities, while still maintaining efficient straw density and transportation capabilities.
Requiring 160 hp for packer operations or 210 hp with the ProCut cutter, the LB 2224 features a heavy-duty 870mm flywheel (290 kg), 6 double-knot knotting system, and the Fieldstar 5 terminal with BaleCreate software.
Available with the optional ProCut rotor cutter (0, 13, or 26 knives), the LB 2224 handles hay, straw, haylage, silage, and miscanthus.

The LB 2224 is a low-profile large square baler designed specifically for operations where transport efficiency and load optimisation are critical, including:
The LB 2224's 2×4 format (1200 × 700 mm) produces wide, low-profile bales that maximise payload capacity in shipping containers and on flatbed trailers, reducing transport costs per tonne.
Its 1200mm width matches the industry-standard 3×4 format, meaning existing handling equipment works seamlessly, while the reduced 700mm height allows more bales per load without exceeding weight limits.
The optional ProCut system with 26 knives delivers precise chop lengths for silage and haylage applications, while the heavy-duty 870mm flywheel ensures consistent density across all crop types and conditions.
The LB 2224 benefits from a robust yet simple design with minimal components, easy access to service points, and the AutoLube system providing automatic lubrication to the 6-knotter assembly.
The LB 2224 requires 160 hp for standard packer operation, or 210 hp when fitted with the ProCut cutter. Tractors in the 160-220 hp range are well suited to this baler.
The low-profile 2×4 format is ideal for buildings with limited ceiling height and makes individual flakes easier to handle manually, improving convenience during feeding while maximizing your available storage space.
Both produce 1200mm wide bales using 6 knotters, but the LB 2224 makes shorter 700mm bales while the LB 2234 produces taller 900mm bales. The 2224 requires slightly less power (160 hp vs 170 hp) and is lighter, but the 2234 offers greater capacity per bale.
The low-profile format allows significantly more bales per container compared to taller formats. Exact numbers depend on bale length settings and container size, but the 700mm height is specifically engineered to optimise international shipping loads.
The LB 2224 handles hay, straw, haylage, silage, and miscanthus. Its all-crop capability makes it a practical choice for operations with varied baling requirements throughout the season.
The ProCut option provides 26 knives arranged in two selectable banks, offering chop lengths of 43.5mm (all knives) or 87mm (single bank). The slide-out knife magazine on Easy Glide bearings provides excellent access for maintenance without tools.
