What an incredible day! Our first ever Open Day at Big Bale Company South Ltd was everything we hoped it would be and more. With glorious sunshine breaking through after days of rain (and returning the very next day!), Wednesday 4th February felt like the perfect day to open our doors and welcome customers old and new to our Church House Farm premises.
We were thrilled with the turnout throughout the afternoon. From customers who had RSVP’d weeks ago to those who decided at the last minute to pop in, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed from start to finish. It was particularly special to see some customers visiting our new premises for the first time – the event gave us a wonderful opportunity to catch up and show them around properly.
One of the highlights of the day was giving everyone a behind-the-scenes look at how we operate.
Visitors were genuinely impressed by our workshop and stores, with several commenting that while they’d been to different places over the years, ours is by far the most organised and tidy they’d seen. That meant a lot to our team, who work hard to maintain those standards every day.
A real showstopper was our freshly built Transtacker 4200 positioned in its full tipping position outside, towering impressively over the other machines.
For many customers, this was their first opportunity to see one in person, and the sheer scale of it when stood tall really showcased what these machines can do.
We only started building these last year, so it was brilliant to see the reaction and answer questions about the capabilities.
Duncan Harris, our Stores Manager, along with Kamil Nienaltowski, gave tours around the shop, while our Workshop team – led by Workshop Manager John Corfield, with Chris Horan, Chris Roberts, Talent Chimunya, Liam Murphy, and Rex Downie – had prepared and positioned all the machines perfectly.
Throughout the afternoon, the workshop team were on hand in the workshop itself, talking to customers, answering technical questions, and showing people around the machinery and equipment. The workshop was set out beautifully, allowing visitors to see everything from new and used Transtackers and Massey Ferguson Balers to Hunters, Nudgebars, bale grabs, and more.
Dave and Elaine kept everyone fed and watered throughout the afternoon, dishing out burgers, cheeseburgers, and jumbo sausages, along with a selection of hot and cold drinks.
The food went down a treat, and the relaxed catering setup added to the informal, friendly atmosphere we were aiming for.
For our team, it was a real pleasure to chat with customers in a more relaxed setting. Our staff were mingling throughout the day, talking about baling machinery and plenty of other topics besides.
It reminded us why we love what we do – the relationships we’ve built with our customers over the years.
While the day was primarily about showing people around and having a good time, we were pleased that some customers were able to mix pleasure with business.
A number of purchases and hires were arranged for the upcoming season, and we’re delighted that people found what they were looking for on the day.
The whole Big Bale South team had a brilliant time, and there’s already talk of making this an annual event. The positive feedback and enthusiasm from everyone who attended has been overwhelming.
If you missed this year’s Open Day, don’t worry! You’re welcome to get in touch with any member of our team, give us a call, or use the contact form on our website to arrange a visit.
We’d be more than happy to show you around our facilities and discuss how we can help with your baling equipment needs.
A huge thank you to Philip Prior, our Sales Manager, who not only organised the entire event but rolled up his sleeves and put in tremendous work to make it happen.
Thanks also to our MD Louis Lobermeier and director James Pavey for their support and hard work in preparation, and to every single team member who helped make the day such a success.
Most importantly, thank you to all our customers and visitors who came along and made it a day to remember.
Here’s to the next one!
