The pickup double tine engages and lifts crop from the windrow into the baler feed system. The double tine configuration increases crop engagement width compared to single tines, improving feeding consistency and reducing crop loss at the pickup, particularly in thin or uneven windrows. Tine condition has a direct and measurable effect on pickup efficiency — worn or bent tines reduce lift and cause crop to be pushed rather than carried into the feed system.
