The friction disc provides the controlled stopping and holding force within the stuffer and knotter brake assemblies, regulating the timing and deceleration of both mechanisms through each baling cycle. Precise brake action is critical to knotter and stuffer timing — a worn friction disc produces inconsistent braking force that disrupts mechanism timing, leading to missed knots, poor stuffer action and increased mechanical stress on associated components.
