Massey Ferguson Packer Shaft – Drive end
The packer drive shaft transmits rotational power to the packer mechanism, driving the packer fingers through their cycle to feed crop material into the bale chamber. Consistent packer shaft performance is essential for uniform chamber loading — shaft wear or failure results in erratic packer action, uneven material distribution across the chamber width, and directly compromised bale density and shape.
When replacing, inspect the packer mechanism bearings, drive sprockets and associated hardware for wear — a worn drive sprocket or bearing will place additional stress on the replacement shaft and shorten its service life. Confirm serial number eligibility carefully before ordering, as the GHB serial number cutoff indicates a specification change that makes earlier shafts non-interchangeable.
