The flywheel clutch pilot plate is a precision-machined interface component that maintains correct clutch alignment relative to the flywheel. On XD models, where driveline torque demands are considerably higher than standard variants, accurate clutch alignment is essential — misalignment accelerates wear across clutch pack components and risks uncontrolled clutch engagement under high-density baling loads.
When replacing the pilot plate, inspect the clutch pack and flywheel mounting face for wear or surface damage before reassembly. Correct torque settings on flywheel fasteners are critical to maintaining the alignment this component is designed to provide.
