Massey Ferguson Plunger Conrod
The plunger connecting rod transfers rotational force from the crankshaft to the plunger, driving the compression stroke on every baling cycle. On large square balers, the conrod operates under substantial cyclical loading — wear or fatigue in this component directly affects plunger stroke consistency and, left unaddressed, risks catastrophic driveline failure during operation.
Inspect big-end and small-end bearing surfaces for wear when removing the conrod, and replace associated bearings and fasteners as a matter of course rather than reusing hardware from a failed or worn assembly. Confirm crankshaft journal condition before fitting a replacement rod.
